The new 9000-square-foot facility will bring much-needed space to Cheyenne River Youth Project’s existing campus and expand on the Waniyetu Wowapi Lakota Youth Art and Culture Institute programs. The new building will feature individual artist studios, dedicated exhibition space, intergenerational gathering spaces for youth, adults, and elders, dedicated art-making spaces for pottery, screen printing and photography, art classrooms, offices, and a multi-purpose outdoor gathering space. The Institute will support the Waniyetu Wowapi Art Park and Art Walk, the annual RedCan graffiti jam, the Lakota Arts Fellowship, and support an extensive, innovative art internship program for eight Lakota Youth.
